TV One (The Largest Black Owned Cable Channel) adds households to extend base to nearly 38 million households

TV One has added more than four million new subscriber households this year, growing from 33.8 million in December 2006 to more than 37.9 million in May 2007, according to Nielsen Media Research estimates. New launches this year include Bright House Networks in Indianapolis, Time Warner Cable of Northeastern Ohio (Akron), and Comcast systems in Minneapolis and West Palm Beach, plus a move from digital to expanded basic on the Comcast system in Shreveport, LA.   More

The WNBA announced recently that its games will be seen in over 200 countries this season.  Yet the 11-year league is barely noticed statewide. 

    When the league tied itself with the opening of the latest Shrek movie with on-line, on-air and in-arena promotions, it lends credence that the WNBA, now going into its second decade of operations, is still identified as a niche sport – you wouldn’t catch the NBA co-promoting itself with some movie.  “The increase in our global television reach is a reflection on the league’s world-class quality of play,” WNBA President Donna Orender gushed in a press release.  More
