Demetrious Johnson hosts concert to benefit the Damien Nash Foundation

(St. Louis, MO, June 7, 2007) The Demetrious Johnson Charitable Foundation (DJCF) and Griffin Entertainment presents the Budweiser Neo Jazz Concert on Friday June 15, 2007 at the Mildred E. Bastian Performing Arts Theater (on the campus of Forest Park Community College). This year’s concert has a special meaning for former NFL player Demetrious Johnson. February 24, 2007 Denver Bronco player and St. Louis native Damien Nash collapsed and died just hours after a charity basketball game that was meant to help raise money for those affected by heart disease. Demetrious Johnson and Damien Nash, both were standout high school football stars in St. Louis who later played for Mizzou and both were given the opportunity to play in the NFL and were able to start non-profits foundations to help others. Unfortunately Nash’s NFL career was cut short but his message to help others reached many including Johnson who wants to make sure that his foundation is able to survive.

Portions of the proceeds from the June 15, 2007 Neo-Jazz Concert will benefit the Damien Nash Foundation which will continue to assist others living with heart disease. The Budweiser Neo Soul concert will feature Neo-Soul artist Eric Roberson, keyboard extraordinaire Bob Baldwin, Grammy Award winning Marion Meadows and Jazz vocalist Maysa. Tickets can be purchased from any Metrotix outlet. ($37.50 & $42.50)
