“Good News Liberia” Radio Aims to Improve Africa’s Image

 (Special to Taylor Media Services) “Good News Liberia,” a 30-minute magazine talk show featuring updates on progress and development in Liberia, perspectives from Liberians in-country and those living in the Diaspora, spiced with top African pop songs, launched on  Oct. 1st on SKY-FM and LBS-FM radio stations in Monrovia, Liberia.

 

The radio show’s host, Julia Wilson, is one of America’s leading advocates for reporting more positive stories and images of Africa and people of African descent via the international media. Wilson is joined each week by 18-year-old John Bookman Muapoe, Liberia’s youngest journalist, whose reports feature youth perspectives. Liberia has a substantial youth population who are among its 85 percent unemployed.

           

“Good News Liberia” airs each Monday at 8:30 a.m. on LBS-FM radio, a government-owned station in Monrovia and on SKY-FM radio on Wednesdays at 2:30 p.m. Besides news talk, the program spotlights some of the most popular African R&B tunes played on that continent.
